Okay, I haven't picked up the Season 5 DVD yet. But yesterday I heard Rich Sommer talking about the Alex storyline--that he was originally scheduled to be in three episodes (1) meet cute, (2) bar flirting, (3) confess love to Pam. But the fan reaction was so strongly negative that they cut his second appearance and re-wrote the third appearance to the "New York is better for you than Scranton" bit that we saw.

QUESTION: Did that cut flirting scene make the DVD?

NOTE: He was in Weight Loss and Customer Survey, so it would have been one of the four episodes between: Business Ethics, Baby Shower, Crime Aid, or Employee Transfer.

I only remember one particular scene in this fic, so I would be incredibly amazed and thankful if someone could remember its title!

It's a Remus/Sirius fic (of course) featuring Regulus prominently. Regulus is a redeemed Death Eater who is now spying for the Order, but (I think, details are a bit hazy now) he's pretty sure he's going to get killed soon. There is a battle where Bella casts Avada Kedavra at Sirius, but Regulus leaps in the way (this is while he's dressed in Death Eater garb) and takes the blow for Sirius, who lifts his white mask and sees the lifeless eyes of his brother. He apparates away from the scene with his brother's body to James's flat, where James, Remus, and Lily (and maybe Peter?) follow shortly thereafter. Sirius tells the story of how he and his brother used to play in this one meadow before they got sorted into different houses, and goes there to bury him. Remus and Sirius dig a spot for a grave together. Sirius carves a headstone and says a few words to his brother, alone, before apparating back to James's flat. (I remember this was rather reminiscent of the scene with Dobby in DH.)

Sorry for the lack of detail; this was only one scene in the entire story, but it just about killed me when I read it because Sirius was so devastated. I'd love to find this fic again, and would also welcome any recs involving Regulus as a major character :)

First, some context: Last Sunday I noticed my labia felt kind of sore and a little swollen. I figured I had just inadvertently irritated myself somehow and thought nothing of it. But then on Monday, the discomfort turned into burning and itching and after some googling, I feared I had my very first yeast infection. I called my doc and made an appointment for Wednesday. I suffered through more itching and burning on Tuesday along with an odorless white discharge...it was uncomfortable, yes, but not totally unbearable, so I held off on buying any creams or over the counter yeast infection treatments. My reasoning was that since this was my first yeast infection & the symptoms cropped up completely out of the blue, I wanted to get a confirmed diagnosis from a doctor before doing anything. I didn't want to unknowingly exacerbate the situation.

So, Wednesday comes along and my doctor does a urine test. He said that there were red blood cells (because I was due to get my period in a few days), white blood cells, and some bacteria in my urine. He said he wasn't sure if I also had a urinary tract infection, so he prescribed an antibiotic called Levaquin, 500mg, for a 3 day course and generic Fluconazole, 150mg, for my yeast infection. He didn't even mention the possible drug interactions, but luckily, I had done my own research beforehand. I had read that antibiotics can cause and/or prolong yeast infections, so I asked him about my concern. He replied that I should do the 3 day course of the Levaquin first and then afterwards, take the fluconazole pill. He said he prescribed one refill of the fluconazole just in case I still needed it.

So, I left my appointment, filled the prescription, and bought some Vagisil anti-itch wipes & cream. I took the first Levaquin pill on Wednesday & found that the wipes were all the relief I needed, so I didn't even open the cream yet. The next day, however, I got my period. I had also read that periods can 'self-cure' yeast infections so I was actually a little excited, haha. So, I continued with the daily Levaquin dose, but didn't continue to use the wipes since the itching/burning was pretty much alleviated by my period.

That brings me up to date...I finished my Levaquin 3 day course yesterday and I'm assuming that today is the day for me to go ahead and take the fluconazole. My question is this...if I took my last dose of the antibiotic Levaquin yesterday around 7:30pm, how long should I wait today before I take the fluconazole? I just want to aviod any interactions that might counter the effect of the fluconazole. Oh, and thanks in advance! (Also, if this entry needs a cut due to length, just let me know & I'll do it!)

I've been thinking lately about going to Planned Parenthood to see if I could get free birth control pills. Last time I went they said that was the only option they gave out for free and considering I haven't had a job since January I was hoping it was still true. Anyways my main reason for this is more about fighting the acne I have since nothing else has worked.

I just wanted to know one thing. Now in the past I've never had a very good record of remembering pills. My boyfriend is behind me all the way on this and he's promising that he'll help me actually remember to take them everyday and at the same time. I just want to know one thing. If I do happen to forget a pill one day would that end up messing up the acne fighting help? For a few months we'll still be using condoms so I won't have to worry about being pregnant. I just want to know the acne fighting pluses and pit falls about the pill.

This is Izzy, our 4 year old rescue mini schnauzer. We've had her 2 1/2 years, we adopted her a few months after our beloved 17 year old dog, Lucy, passed. Izzy had some big paws to fill but she is a wonderful dog we are all crazy about. Here she is, hoping the Saints go 11-0 after Monday night:)

The edge of the alphabet where words crumble and all forms of communication between the living and the dead are useless. One day we who live at the edge of the alphabet will find our speech.

Meanwhile, we are like those yellow birds which are kept apart from their kind -- you see their cages hanging in windows, in the sun -- because otherwise they would never learn the language of their captors. But like the yellow birds have we not our pleasures? We look long in mirrors. We have tiny ladders to climb up and down, little wheels to set our feet and our heart racing nowhere; toys to play with.

Should we not be happy?

I'm always late when it comes to tv shows. I started watching Fringe almost at the end of the first season, and now I'm hooked. Anyway, last week's episode was simply GORGEOUS. Great storyline, beautiful picture, I loved it. And it really made me wonder why I've never picspammed this show before.

You made her important.

OOTD
I haven't posted an outfit in two weeks! Totally shameful.

I got this shirt not too long ago from the Righteous Babe Store. I never got around do doing a review of my purchases with them, but I'll say that after 2 months I got the three shirts I ordered, as well as three free items. All in all it wasn't a terrible purchase but I likely won't be buying from the site again. This Ani Difranco tour tee is so cute! But because crew necks make me feel like I'm choking, I took a pair of scissors to the collar. I was very careful that the neck was even and had no unsightly tags of fabric, and I'm happy with the result.

I've built a contraption (camera, wooden bangle, tissue paper) that allows me to get the right angle and thus include my head and feet in photos. Awesome, huh?

i am working at a library today, and a mom is here with her three kids. the mom has been gossiping on a cell phone for the last ten minutes, so i'm listening to the kids bicker.

the youngest, named mary, is trying to play with her older brother and sister. the brother got mad at her and said, "you know what, mary? you look fat."

mary started crying and tried to tell her mom, who was still on the phone, that they called her a name. but her mom was busy, so when she went back, her sister said, "we didn't call you a name, we said you looked like something." the brother said, "yeah, you look fat." mary is crying really hard now and the mom isn't stepping in..

they kept calling her fat and i could tell it was really traumatizing.

i felt helpless! what would you have done? interrupt the mom and tell her a storm is brewing? interrupt the kids? or something completely different?

I've noticed that a lot of you also have problems finding coats that fit. My warm winter coat died a horrible death at the end of the season last year, so I've been making do with thin jackets until now.

But that wasn't going to cut the mustard for shoveling snow, so I decided to give a men's coat from Burlington Coat Factory a shot - it was on sale for only $29.99 (from $100), anyway. I'm now extremely happy that with that choice!

This is the coat (except that I got it in black).

- I normally wear a 26/28, and the 3x is comfortably roomy for sweaters, but close fitting enough that the wind doesn't blow up into it. The wrists are half elastic, so they stay put. The hood lies nice and flat when it's down, even in last night's heavy wind.
- The styling is basic enough that it doesn't scream "men's clothing".
- It's warm enough that when I walked the dogs last night in windy and 30s weather, I felt like I had a heater in the sleeves. It was a touch too warm in this afternoon's mid-40s, even unzipped.

My only (minor) complaints: the material feels like the polyester it is, and I'm a little worried that people will assume that I'm actually an equestrian and think me a poser when I admit that I'm not.

Hey Fats,
I've posted asking for hair advice before using this same picture, but that was a month or so ago when I was asking about tying it back, this time I'm thinking of having it cut? Possibly..
How would you think? It's dyed a tinted purple (naturally it's dark brown) and I intend on keeping the colour because I think it suits me, (see user pic,) but I'm possibly thinking of getting it cut?

Pic and more info behind the cut.

Okay, I have a few questions about the tattoo I'd like. I know I want to get quotation marks on each forearm, right under the crook of my elbow. However, I have no idea what fonts quotation marks look good in or how painful that spot is. Can anyone help me out? Thanks!

Things I'd like: I'm a wolf girl! I'm fascinated with pack dynamics, and also with the notion of imprinting. Do you think Embry or Paul ever imprinted? I imagine Paul might have fallen for a Forks girl a little bit younger than him, and had a tough time explaining who and what he was to her family. I would also like to know the story of Quil and Claire from the beginning. Obviously, there's not much to go on in canon, so let your imagination run free! I love Jacob too, but I'd love to see some of the lesser recognized wolves get some time to shine. I do not ship Jacob with Bella. In fact, it's fine if Bella or the Cullens don't appear at all.

What I can do: Fanfiction. I would probably not do well for Bella/ship romances, but could try romantic fiction for anyone in the pack. Gen fic for vampires, as well, I could give a try. My favorite vampires are Emmett and Jasper.

What I absolutely CAN'T do: No graphics or vids, and really I would probably not do well with Bella/anyone, or any of the vamp couples.

Anything else: Happy holidays!

So it's Thanksgiving, and I'm in your box office, selling you tickets. I'm in a pretty good mood, getting to chat with one of my favorite coworkers, and everyone's been fairly mellow and pleasant up to this point.

Until this guy comes up. Let me say, before I start, that I have a lisp. It's not super bad and I'm not unintelligible, but it's there.

Guy comes up to get tickets.

Me: ...Okay, for two tickets it'll be sixteen dollars!

Guy: How much?

Me: Sixteen dollars! *cheerful happy smiley yay*

Guy: *looking in his wallet* Thikthteen dollarth. *smirksmirk*

...excuse me what.

I was only as polite as strictly necessary through the rest of the transaction, and then cursed him when all the other customers were gone. I hope he gets hit in the face with a football and has a lisp from them on. :| But I mean SERIOUSLY, who over the age of nine does that?!

At what age do you think it is a good idea to start a young child on overnight visitation with a non-custodial parent?

A. birth
B. 6-12 months
C. 12-18 months
D. 18-24 months
E. 2
F. 3
G. 4
H. 5+

Does your answer change if the parents use different parenting practices, such as CIO-type stuff v. attachment parenting?

What if the mother is breastfeeding, whether from birth-6 mo, 6 mo-12 mo, 12 mo+?

Is extended nursing a good enough reason to delay overnight visitations as long as the baby child is still nursing?

Is your answer based on what you think is "best for the child" or based on "parent's rights"? Or both?

***For this question, please assume that the custodial parent is the mother, and the non-custodial parent is the father, just 'cause it's easier.***

(first question edited for neutrality.)

ETA: Let's all remember that NIGHTTIME is not the ONLY time for a baby/toddler/child to bond with his/her parents. Overnight visitation is not the only time it is possible to form and maintain a relationship. The child is likely already going to daytime visitation, and those times could be increased without necessarily starting overnight visits.

Challenge 13 Something Different
Character and Setting on The Wire
Includes spoiler-free images from seasons one and two.

The Wire is one of those shows I've wanted to watch for a long time. I knew it was supposed to be really good like most HBO shows are. I knew I needed to start watching it from the beginning so catching a new season wasn't an option. I actually bought the season one dvd at least a year ago but never got around to watching it. Finally, once we'd watched Generation Kill we had the motivation to watch The Wire. Three or four episodes in and we were hooked. Once we were finished with the first season I caved and bought the complete series box set because I didn't want to wait too long in between seasons. We're currently watching the fourth season. This picspam only covers the first and second, partially because I didn't have time to cap the third and also because it was my least favorite thus far. With this picspam I tried to give a sense of the visual identity of the show. The show is character-focused and the setting is also very important. Baltimore is its own character and the difference in setting between the two seasons is really interesting to me. Hopefully this picspam will inspire some of you to consider watching the show. It's as spoiler-free as I could manage which is why the season two part is shorter. I didn't want to give anything away. :)

...and all the pieces matter. )
